E Komo Mai ~ Welcome, to Farmers Voice Hawai‘i!
This news, information, and opinion forum is dedicated to farmers, ranchers, and fishermen in Hawai‘i. It was inspired by the absence of farm story-telling in mainstream news sources. The pressure to put forth the most interesting farm topics in hopes of some coverage by other news sources was becoming exhausting. If the farm story wasn’t controversial, it received no coverage. If there was room for some farm news, selecting one from many, left many out. I did not enjoy choosing between tomatoes or potatoes; both are quality produce to talk story about.
The name Farmers Voice Hawai‘i was selected after research uncovered an historic national farming newspaper, Farmers Voice, that ceased publication in 1913.
Hawai‘i has tremendous farming stories to share. We hope to use this publishing vehicle to share stories of best practice farming in Hawai‘i and to adorn our farmers and food providers with the recognition, love, and support they truly deserve. We aim to put farmers first. Please grow with us by engaging with story ideas, issue knowledge, and opinion.
